As it turns out, for the past years, neither did anyone else. The faint sketches show the angel and Baby Jesus in slightly different positions. Virgin Atlanticthe travel empire of UK billionaire Richard Branson, has recently launched what it calls "Gallery in the Air," the first art gallery that allows passengers to purchase art at 35, feet above sea level. The artwork will be on display across Virgin Atlantic clubhouses in the London Heathrow, JFK and Newark airports, where travelers will get their first glimpse of the available canvases. Then, once aboard the plane, passengers will have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the pieces on sale, look at behind the scenes footage of how the art was made and, finally, make their pricey purchases. Think Skymall meets art dealing, all taking place in the swanky luxury cabin of an airplane.
With the rise of the internet, young artists can post their works online and gain traction. Well, thanks to Instagram and various Twitter hashtags, artists can reach the people they never thought they would reach. Not with Pineapple Lab.

A collaboration with the University of York, this project investigates the fictive architecture that surrounds and encases the Virgin Mary in Italian Renaissance paintings. The doctoral student will work at the Gallery for regular periods during their three-year projects.
